Born, on March 14th, 1982 in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Graduated in English Department of Makassar State University and studying in Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. A big fan of Bruce Lee, Hijikata-Ohno, Grotowski and world music. Started his career in art since 2000 when he involved in student art organisation in his university. Mostly, he work on theater as actor and director. In fact, he has been working on various discipline: stage manager, stage designer, dancer, stage crew, directing his own plays, involved as production team, musician, networking, and also freelancer in numbers of art and cultural projects and communities in Indonesia.
Since 2001, he has been working with numbers of established artist ; musician (Basri B Sila-Indonesia), choreographers (Andi Ummu Tunru, Nurlina Syahrir-Indonesia, Meg Harper, Jonas Lindquis, Ximena Garnica and Shige Moriya-NY), directors (N. Riantiarno, Putu Wijaya, Jacob Marala, Shinta Febriyani and Riri Riza from Indonesia and companies like: Teater Koma & Teater Mandiri-Jakarta, Sanggar Merah Putih & Teater Kala-Makassar, Shakespeare’s Wild Sister and U-Theatre from Taiwan, and directing productions in few students theater production in Makassar.
With Komunitas Seni Stupa and Teater Titik Dua, he directed visual theater plays since 2003. Mostly inspired by I La Galigo, the Bugis mythology from 14th century and some from literary works of Indonesian writers.
At the moment, he is still working as the manager in Rumata’ Art Space, an independent art hub in Makassar, found by the Indonesian prominent director, Riri Riza and writer, Lily Yulianti Farid. Every summer since 2007, Abdi spend his time to live and work with dozens of artists from many nations, disciplines, ages and cultural background on laboratory works in Watermill Center for The Art in Long Island-New York, under direction of the towering figure of avant-garde theater, Robert Wilson.
